Twilight fans getting waaaay out of hand?Hands up for Twilight fans I know.
You, you and you.
Will you ever cause injuries to the security guard if he tells you to get in line?
I know I won't. Not even if its Sebastian coming.
I'm not going to MAIM someone just because he/she/it is in my way from seeing the actor of my favourite movie.
I'm going to borrow a term from the mobs on the net (the rational ones) to label such people. Like the Narutards. Or rather, not like the Narutards (all they do is run around in orange, draw 6 lines across their face, cheat using 'jutsus' and try to climb trees and hang off them.), the Twitards, are being being very very irrational.
The Stephen King Interview with USA WeekendSo an established author (note, i say established, not awesome), in this case, Stephen King (SK) makes a rational observation that SMeyers may have more fame, but JK.Rowling has more writing ability.
He goes on to write an anti-thesis (wow, GP now), and says that while that may be true, there is no denying that SMeyers is indeed, "very successful" in her line of work.
Yes, SK may not be a fan of SMeyers, but he did point out correctly that SMeyers, despite her obvious popularity to the tween masses still has much to improve on (stop the dazzling and the perfect, you fucker! If it wasn't for the movie, i wouldn't have known what Edward looked like. Perfect doesn't cut it, cause one person's perfect may be another's arsehole.).
Last time I checked, bestseller does not mean good.It just means that its top in the charts for selling the most.
And don't tell me majority is right.
Or that quantity = quality.
The last time I checked, slavery was practiced by the majority in the past, and it wasn't RIGHT.
And curse me if i'm wrong, but branded machine manufactered goods are still not as good as designer, made by hand goods.
And anyway, any comment or debate worth SHIT should be backed with proof.
So why do i see comments like this (links are at the bottom of the list)?
Examples:
"I cannot tell you how IRRITATED and MAD I was when I heard that statement! The guy is CLUELESS! I called my mother to RANT about that and once I told her what he said (before I could even tell her my thoughts) she said, "He has No idea what he's talking about! His books are sub par compared to hers!"
"If only Stephen King could get the recognition that Stephanie Meyer did. That's probably what his problem is. Someone else put a modern twist on an old monster story. He obviously can't handle that he is stuck in a rut. Or he wants a ride on the Twilight wave."
"Well, I've read a lot of Stephen King novels. He's written one vamprie novel and it was rubbishhe can't write very vwell anyway, he has good ideas but his books are boring. I bet he's just jealous, I'd love to say that to his face.Have you read Salem's Lot - it's dull and the vampires are liel monster,s it was that good i canmt even remember it"
"All I have to say is "Bite Me" Stephen King!Stephanie is an awesome writer and I adored every single sentence in her saga!I never really cared for Stephen's books. He obviously doesn't know good writing.Long Live Stephanie!!"
"I was so mad about Stephen King talkin smack about Stephenie. First of all his books are soooooo boring!!! Who cares about what he thinks? I don't know why people have to go out of their way to discredit someone. Stephen King is like school in the summer: NO CLASS!!! Ugh!"
"Is that the idiot trying to bring Stephanie down?!?! Ugh...Oh puuuhhhleassseee!!!! Stephanie, pay no attention to him!I think Stephen King is a horrible writer. (I thought that before Twilight) I refuse to read any of his books. I don't know who he thinks he is. Does he really think he has talent? I don't see a website like this for any of his books. I don't know who made him think his thought auctually was revelant to us or Stephanie. I guess he is out of crappy ideas for books. (The Mist?? I mean Really??) And is trying to get some publicity for his stupidity. Hey Stephen! Obviously Stephanie does not care what you think! Go take a creative writing class or something! It just goes to show how great Stephanie is, even when she is attacked, she keeps her head up high like a Lady, and does not even give him the time of day. Go Stephanie! You know you have Talent! Don't let this Idiot bring you down!"

This, I feel, is very childish. You are not giving any reason as to whether he is a good writer, skills wise. The whole point of the interview was HER WRITING IS NOT UP TO STANDARD, not HER STORY SUCKS.
These are two fundamentally different things. The first one is pointing at her skills in writing, and the second, which he did not commit, was to comment that her stories were sucky. Maybe he implied that, (which i felt was true, since Meyers had to imply sex from the first book. Notice i said imply. If she'd wanted all her readers to abstain from sex, she wouldn't have written it in. Obviously she struggled with wanting to write it and forcing herself to bring it back to ground one by telling others its not right.) but I feel, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion.
What was most disappointing was that rational adults (
http://www.twilightmoms.com/ i always thought they were pretty rational) has also come down hard on Stephen King, saying things like, "I used to like him, now i won't read his books again!", "He wasn't even good to begin with!".
http://www.thetwilightsaga.com/ has always been childish to a certain extent. I'm not even going to comment on that.
[link] were the most rational of them all, i guess. The one or two childish comments don't faze me, since most of them aren't working from a fangirl (oh my fucking god, he's critising Meyers the-most-awesome-even-better-then-shakespeares work! He is a heretic, lets all shun him, hate his work! I want to mob him now! He sucks as a writer!) POV. That's why i respect their ideas.
[link] didn't have much on that, just random posts with no comments.
Of course, SK could have worded it better (if it had been up to me I'd have said Fuck off, SM.), but hey! o.o; he is human afterall. Like you, like me. And I'm sure you've probably offended someone by not wording things properly before. I'm sure you never meant the way that people thought you did, right?
Of course, on the twilight attacks, it may or may not have been true (i'm not putting any stock in it, since i couldn't find any actual articles yet), so no comment, 'cept for one.
-For every craze that is started up, there'll always be the one or two which goes way to extreme. But this doesn't translate to the whole community, and as such, if they like to read the book, it's their own fucking choice. That said, Twilight fans shouldn't call us non-twilight fans 'stupid', 'horrible taste in movies', 'jealous' (this cracked me up. If I were a vamp, i'll be turning everyone into vamps. Why the fuck will i be torturing myself and abstaining off humans? And anyway, i have awesome friends, awesome parents. Why would i be jealous of Bella? o.o Just coz he's got Edward? I love Sebastian from Kuro Shitsuji, but you don't see me being jealous towards Ciel, do you?), 'monster', 'heartless', 'jerk', 'bitches', among other things.
[link] <--- read mrs emmett cullen's post. It scares me.
Of course the Anti-clan is doing the same thing. Anyway, i resent being called that. I may not widely read, (Raymond E Feist, Celia Friedman, Mercedes Lackey and Ann Mccaffrey are amongst the titles i love - i think you can guess my favourite genre now), but when i post a comment somewhere that the person may be overreacting, i don't expect to be treated like a person with AIDS. Or a person with leprosy(?). Or heaven forbid, a hell-spawn.
And i shall stop here, and not go into the controversial themes (pedophile, sex, loner much?) of Twilight (I hate the book, and some of its fans) and get flamed to no tomorrow. Though undeniably, it is entertaining, with its lack of punctuation, grammar and spell-check.That said, i feel a little better now~ :3
