The War. Prologue.
Rika listened closely to the wind. The slyphs were struggling to tell her something.
She wondered why no one was attentive enough to listen, for she knew, trouble was coming. And coming fast.
A loud thump came from the direction of the Forest of Sorrows, and dark tendrils of blood magicks flowed in minute amounts across the land, causing the earth to glow beneath her feet.
So it has begun...
***************************
It was a legend, and legends were only meant to scare, to warn. They were just stories, not worth any credibility. But the castle was settling down.
In the markets, rumors filled the streets, as women gossiped and children played.
The castle is settling down.In the taverns, bards sang an ominous tale.
The castle of red and gold and purple,
Proud reminder of our heritage.
Walks freely throughout the land we live,
Never once stopping.
But long ago in aeons past,
Her brothers came and challenged her,
Her castle stood and settled down.
The castle of the Wild Lady of the Borque.
She sent Her children away,
To a far away land.
So that she can fight her very last war,
To save Her children once more.
Her brothers roamed our beautiful lands,
Pillaging and killing as they went.
Their aim was our Lady true,
For they wanted Her power.
For many moons,
She fought alone.
While Her children sneaked back to Her side.
They waited for days,
The perfect moment.
And they struck,
First of Her children,
Driving deep into the enemy ranks.
The enemy Her brothers fled.
There were cheers after the war,
But no one saw the Lady fall.
By then she was gone,
Just a mist of dreams,
The Lady became a dream,
Forever more.
Her land was ravaged,
Her world was torn asunder.
Flames leapt and licked the trees,
Lightning struck those unprotected.
From this was borne Her world's name.
Abagado Diablo,
Advocate of the Devil.
This we know,
Is the history of our land.
The unkempt bard stopped and took a long swig from his mug. Letting his eyes sweep across the rapt audience of the Sobrio Embriague, he wiped his mouth with a dirty sleeve. Watching their eyes, he was glad that they were paying attention. For the time has come again, and this time, he would make sure that the Lady doesn't fall.
Absent-mindedly, he fingered the hem of his battered hat, and pulled it lower, over his face. It wouldn't be good if the Guild was exposed so early. Clearing his throat, he nodded to his partner, and together, with his voice and his harp, they wove their bardic music.
Centuries later,
The Lady returned.
With a different self,
She named herself Snow.
By then Her children,
Have forgotten her.
She looked so different,
From the Lady of Olde.
No one could recognise her,
Except for the castle.
The decaying castle which had stayed unmoving,
From the day she left.
Stood up and walked again,
The Lady in its arms,
Its red and purple banners flew again.
Where it walked,
The world itself healed.
New lands were created,
The landmarks of olde restored.
The stale air roared,
With relentless power.
Abagado Diablo,
Has risen once more.
In the celebrations that came,
Her return was celebrated.
But even in the bright celebrations,
The slyphs whispered to those who would hear.
"When the castle settles down, beware, for They have come once again!"
As the last vestiges of their power seeped into the cold winter night, the bard and his partner took one last look at the crowd and jumped off the counter. Grabbing their battered cloaks from the clothes-hook in the tavern, they slung their instruments over their backs and strode silently out, leaving the group of bespelled people behind.
"Do you think they'll heed the warning?" His partner asked, his face grimacing at the thought of the trek ahead to their hut.
"I don't think so. But we can always hope." The bard replied, wearily. "Its the least that we can do for Lady Snow. Afterall, she was the reason we weren't wiped out in the last war." He shook his head tiredly, pushing open the door to their hut. "Three times she'd been killed, three times she'd come back again. I fear... That one day she'd never be able to return again."
"She'll be able to pull through this time, I'm sure. She has a stronger army now. There's no way that Yukiko would ever lose to those two herejes again."
